Still got questions?
Get in touch anytime. We’ll do our best to help you plan your stay and make sure you’re ready for a proper bush adventure — steep, rocky, rugged, and unforgiving as it is.
Accommodation & Booking
1. What type of accommodation do you provide?
We offer proper bush quarters — clean, solid, and comfortable. Nothing fancy, not an Airbnb setup. You’ll have separate sleeping quarters and a general hang-out space with a fireplace, pool table, camp-style kitchen, couch, and piano. Keep in mind, this is rugged bush country, not a luxury retreat.
2. How many guests can stay?
The lodge sleeps up to 6 guests. Base rate covers 3 people; extra guests are welcome at an additional cost.
3. What’s the minimum stay?
Two nights minimum (so a minimum booking of $900 for up to 3 guests).
4. What’s included in the rate?
Beds, linen, hot shower, flushing toilet, camp-style kitchen, meat-processing table, freezer facility, and firewood.
5. What’s not included?
Food, drinks and fishing licences are at your own cost.
6. What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in from 2pm and check-out by 10am. Early check-in or late check-out can sometimes be arranged, depending on bookings.
7. How do I book?
Bookings can be made directly through the website or by contacting us. A 50 % deposit secures your stay, with the balance due on arrival.
8. What is your cancellation policy?
Refer to >Accommodation>Rates and Package
9. Do I need travel insurance?
Yes — we recommend travel insurance for cancellations, illness, or extreme weather. Remote bush properties can be affected by sudden events.
Hunting & Fishing
1. What hunting is available at Jimargie?
Jimargie offers bow-hunting only — no firearms. The property has bush areas with wild pigs, goats, and other game. You’re welcome to hunt within the property boundaries following our safety brief. This is steep, rocky, and unforgiving terrain — only tackle it if you’re prepared for rugged bush country.
2. Do I need a licence or permit?
Yes. All guests must hold the appropriate NSW recreational fishing licence. We’ll point you in the right direction if you need help applying. However no licence is required for bow hunting.
3. Do you charge per animal?
No. There’s no cost per game taken. You can use the meat-processing area and freezers free of charge.
4. Can I bring my own equipment?
Absolutely. Bring your own bow, arrows, knives, rods and other personal hunting and fishing gear.
5. Do you provide gear hire?
We can provide Personal Locator Beacons and satellite phones for hire. Other hunting/fishing gear is BYO.
6. Is this suitable for first-time hunters or anglers?
Yes, but you should have a basic understanding of the activity. We provide safety briefings and can guide beginners, but you must be prepared for tough, rocky, steep terrain.
7. What about fishing?
We’ve got around 2.5 km of Severn River frontage — home to Murray cod and Silver perch. You’ll need a NSW recreational fishing licence. The river is pristine, quiet, and ideal for anglers who like their space. Access involves rocky and uneven tracks — sturdy footwear is a must.
8. When’s the best time for fishing?
The fishing’s good year-round, though cod tend to be more active in the warmer months. Conditions can vary with water levels.
Getting Here and The Country
1. Where are you located?
Jimargie is in the high country of northern NSW, roughly halfway between Ashford and Emmaville — about 58 km north of Glen Innes.
2. Do I need a 4WD?
Not always, but it helps. The access road is unsealed. In dry weather, a 2WD is fine if you take it steady. After rain, a 4WD is recommended.
3. What’s the terrain like?
It’s extremely tough, rugged, rocky, steep, and unforgiving country — not for the feint hearted or unfit. Expect creek crossings, ridges, and genuine bush. That’s part of the adventure.
4. Do you offer pick-up or drop-off for activities?
Yes — we can drop you off or pick you up from fishing or game locations (subject to availability).
5. Can I use my vehicles on the property?
6. No — due to our insurance restrictions. Any movement on the property is either on foot or with our vehicles
7. Is the property suitable for elderly or less mobile guests?
The terrain is rugged and steep. Older or mobility-challenged guests should consider the lodge’s limitations before booking.
Safety & Gear
1. Is it safe out there?
It’s remote country, and we take safety seriously. Every guest must carry a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) or satellite phone. Both are available for hire if you don’t have your own. The land is rocky and steep, so care is needed at all times.
2. What should I bring?
Your own fishing or bow-hunting gear
Licence (fishing/hunting as needed)
Good boots and outdoor clothing (essential for rocky, steep tracks)
Food and drinks
Hat, sunscreen, insect repellent
Torch or headlamp
Any medication or personal items
We’ve got the rest covered — beds, firewood, and a proper bush kitchen.
3. Are pets allowed?
No pets, sorry. We’ve got plenty of wildlife, and the property isn’t fenced for domestic animals.
4. What about mobile phone reception?
Patchy to non-existent in most areas. Bring a satellite phone or hire one through us.
5. What happens in bad weather?
If we get heavy rain, access can be tricky. We’ll stay in touch about road conditions before your trip. Safety always comes first.
6. Is there first aid on-site?
Yes — we maintain a first aid kit and safety equipment in the lodge. All guests should bring personal medication and inform us of medical conditions.
Environment & Property Rules
